Last weekend, 11 friends united on Dartmoor for a day that only happens once a year- the mid point between the birthdays of Stephanie Long and Chris Duke.
We went to the plume of feathers pub and Mike made this huge card pyramid. And we had beers and spent the night. It was super cool. It was like living in a place with a full public bar and restaurant and you could drink as much as you wanted and then just go upstairs to bed. It was like owning a pub, really. Plus it was close to many natural wonders in Dartmoor, so the next day we went hiking and saw some of them.
These antlers were actually mounted on the wall behind me and not mine.
This is Stephanie and Tom in Wistman's wood. Wistman's wood is
haunted by the hunter and his Wist Hounds. It is mentioned in the Hound of the Baskervilles Sherlock Holmes story, and , as you can see, it is cool looking.
Apparently, the King, some time in the 1600's was running out of places to hunt, so they built this wood (or planted it, really) to make more space for him. But, they were ignorant, and they planted it in a bunch of boulders. None of the trees grew properly and they all got covered in what are like scavenging plants like the moss you see. There's moss everywhere in these woods!
Definitely haunted.
